Northern Kentucky University graduate Charles Sora has officially joined the Covington Police Department. Sora was sworn in as the newest police officer by Mayor Ron Washington during a brief ceremony held at City Hall.

Assistant Chief of Police Matthew Winship highlighted that with Sora's induction, the department now has 110 sworn officers. "With Charlie Sora’s swearing in we are now 110 sworn officers," said Winship. He also noted that Charles joins his brother Jackson, who became part of the department in 2023.

The Covington Police Department has a history of employing family members, including siblings and parent-child duos. "Law enforcement continues to be a family tradition in Covington," remarked Winship.

Before joining the police force, Charles Sora graduated from Northern Kentucky University in May with a bachelor's degree in Exercise Science. He is also an alumnus of Covington Catholic High School. His next step involves attending the Basic Academy in Richmond for 20 weeks before returning to Covington for field training.
