Kenton County Animal Services (KCAS) has announced a change in its public hours. Starting August 1, the facility will no longer be open to the public on Mondays. This adjustment is aimed at providing staff with additional time for deep cleaning and sanitation, which are essential for maintaining a healthy and safe environment for the animals.

"Shelter life can be tough on pets, and creating a clean, low-stress environment is a key way we can support animal health and wellness," said KCAS Director Kelly Sauer. "Dedicating Mondays to enhanced cleaning helps us stay ahead of potential health concerns and ensures we’re always providing the best possible care."

Despite this change, KCAS will continue offering services such as adoptions, stray intake, and lost pet reunification from Tuesday through Saturday. The hours of operation will be Tuesday to Friday from noon to 6:00 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Animal control officers will remain available for emergencies every day of the week, including Mondays.

Kenton County Animal Services is located at 1020 Mary Laidley Drive in Covington. Potential adopters can view available pets online at bit.ly/MeetOurPets.
