Amazon has announced that it has upskilled over 700,000 employees worldwide through its education and training programs. The company is enhancing its Career Choice program globally and introducing new robotics apprenticeships in the United States.

"Supporting our employees' career growth isn't just a priority—it's a cornerstone to our philosophy," said Amazon. The company aims to help employees pursue more skilled and higher-earning roles.

The Career Choice program assists hourly employees in developing skills for in-demand fields. It is available in countries including the U.S., Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany, Spain, France, Ireland, Italy, Poland, Czechia, South Africa, Slovakia, and Costa Rica. Since its inception, over 250,000 employees have participated in the program.

Beginning August 2025, Amazon plans to expand Career Choice offerings across the U.S., Europe, and South Africa. The enhanced program will support employees’ career aspirations both within and outside of Amazon. Changes include prepaying up to 100% of tuition fees by eliminating the previous 5% employee contribution requirement.

Amazon front-line employees can access annual education funds as long as they remain with the company in an eligible role. The company offers additional education programs through partnerships with over 85 European and more than 500 U.S. educational institutions.

New robotics training and apprenticeship programs are also being launched. A 2024 MIT survey indicated that 60% of employees interacting with robotics and AI expect positive impacts on safety and productivity.

"We believe the way forward lies in empowering our workforce to grow alongside these advancements," Amazon noted. Employee feedback has been crucial in developing these curriculums.

Since implementing these initiatives, more than 8,000 employees have graduated with their GEDs; over 2,000 have earned high school diplomas; and over 25,000 have participated in English language proficiency programs.

Amazon's upskilling efforts aim to prepare its workforce for future challenges as technology continues to transform industries.
