The City of Covington has welcomed a new addition to its police force. Tyler Setter was officially sworn in as a police officer during a ceremony held at City Hall on Monday, July 14, 2025.
Mayor Ron Washington conducted the oath-taking ceremony, which was attended by Setter's family and leaders from the Covington Police Department.
Setter hails from Independence, Kentucky. He graduated in 2024 from Northern Kentucky University with a degree in Exercise Science and a minor in mathematics.
Before assuming his duties, Setter will undergo training at the Department of Criminal Justice Training Academy in Richmond, Kentucky. The six-month program is part of his preparation for his role as an officer.
Upon completion of the academy training, Setter will return to Covington. He will join the patrol bureau and participate in the department’s Field Training program. This program partners new officers with experienced field training officers to provide hands-on experience across all four patrol shifts within the city.
