Hamilton County has achieved recognition for its commitment to energy efficiency, with five of its buildings receiving the 2024 ENERGY STAR Awards. These awards are given based on a building's energy performance using the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) 1-100 scale, where a score of at least 75 is required for certification.
The following county buildings have surpassed this threshold: Todd B Portune Center for County Government with a score of 87, Alms & Doepke with a score of 95, 800 Broadway scoring 84, and both 250 William Howard Taft and 230 East 9th each achieving scores of 83.
The Alms & Doepke building, which houses Hamilton County Job and Family Services, ranks in the top five percent nationwide for energy efficiency. This achievement highlights the efforts of the County Facilities department in maintaining high standards for energy efficiency and completing necessary certifications annually.
ENERGY STAR certified buildings contribute to environmental protection by saving energy and reducing emissions. On average, these office buildings use up to 35% less energy compared to others. More information about ENERGY STAR can be found at energystar.gov.
