On Friday, July 18, 2025, Covington Police Chief Brian Valenti and Mayor Ron Washington held a press conference regarding an incident on the Roebling Bridge that occurred on the night of Thursday, July 17, 2025. The incident led to multiple arrests and caused significant disruptions to public safety and traffic flow.

Videos circulating online have attracted attention, particularly one involving an officer during an arrest. "That officer has been placed on Administrative Duty while the Department conducts a full and fair investigation into the use of force," stated officials.

The City emphasized its support for peaceful assembly rights while also backing its police officers who face challenging situations. "But any use of force must be lawful and measured," they added.

The City reiterated its commitment to transparency, accountability, and maintaining trust between law enforcement and the public. During the press conference, Chief Valenti presented videos and photos explaining each clip's context related to the Department’s response.

A warning was issued as some clips contain graphic language and physical force. The full uncut press conference is available for viewing online.
