The Hamilton County Board of Commissioners has approved $300,000 in Façade Grant funding to support the revitalization of six community business districts. The funds will be allocated to Cheviot, Harrison, Mt. Healthy, Reading, Lockland, and Woodlawn. Each community is eligible for up to $50,000 in reimbursements for storefront improvements aimed at enhancing their visual appeal and stimulating economic growth.
Commission President Alicia Reece emphasized the program's goal: "My goal is to ensure Hamilton County is one of the number one counties for small business in America," she stated. She noted that these grants are designed to attract new businesses, retain existing ones, and create jobs.
Commissioner Denise Driehaus expressed enthusiasm about supporting these communities: "We're thrilled to support these vibrant communities and their efforts to revitalize their business districts," she said. Driehaus highlighted that façade improvements are intended to boost foot traffic and create a welcoming environment for both businesses and residents.
Commissioner Stephanie Summerow Dumas reinforced the county's commitment: "This grant program is a testament of our commitment to supporting local businesses and fostering economic development," she remarked. According to her, investing in such projects will contribute towards building thriving communities for future generations.
The commissioners believe that individual façade improvements can significantly impact local business districts by making them more vibrant and economically prosperous.
