Kenton County is offering a holiday light recycling program, allowing residents to recycle old lights. The initiative is organized by Kenton County Solid Waste Management in collaboration with Cohen Recycling, the city of Covington, and Keep Covington Beautiful.
The recycling program will run from December 1, 2024, through January 31, 2025. Both traditional and LED-style bulbs can be dropped off at various locations across Northern Kentucky, including twelve sites in Kenton County.
The designated drop-off points include:
- Covington City Hall, 20 W. Pike Street
- Covington Fire Department – Station 5, 1255 Hands Pike
- Covington Public Works, 1730 Russell Street
- The Center for Great Neighborhoods, 321 W. 12th Street
- Kenton County Government Center, 1840 Simon Kenton Way
- Kenton County Public Works, 420 Independence Station Road
- Edgewood City Building, 385 Dudley Road
- Erlanger City Building, 505 Commonwealth Avenue
- Fort Mitchell City Building, 2355 Dixie Highway
- Fort Wright City Building, 9 Kyles Lane
- Independence City Building, 5409 Madison Pike
- Taylor Mill City Building, 5225 Taylor Mill Road
Participants are advised to remove all hooks, batteries, and ornaments from their string lights before dropping them off. The event focuses solely on recycling lights; any packaging should be recycled separately at home.
