Gas prices across the United States have remained stable as the summer driving season enters its final month. The national average for a gallon of regular gasoline dropped by two cents to $3.14 this past week, according to figures released on July 31, 2025. This marks a continuation of relatively low prices, with July's monthly average at $3.15—the same figure recorded in July 2021.
Despite a slight increase in crude oil prices and higher demand for gasoline, these factors have not been enough to cause an uptick at the pump.
The cost of charging electric vehicles also showed no change over the past week. The national average price per kilowatt hour at public EV charging stations remained steady at 36 cents.
"July comes to an end with a monthly average of $3.15, the same as it was in July 2021, the last time summer gas prices were this low. Crude oil prices have gone up slightly, as gas demand has also risen, but not enough to drive up prices at the pump."
