City Hall offices in Covington, Kentucky, will not be open on Thursday, June 19. The closure is to observe the Juneteenth holiday. Normal operations will resume at 8 a.m. on Friday, June 20.

Juneteenth, also known as "Freedom Day" or "Juneteenth Independence Day," is a day that many African Americans celebrate as marking the end of slavery in the United States.

The Covington Board of Commissioners decided in 2022 to acknowledge Juneteenth as an official city holiday.
