Morgan Stanley Investment Management, through its real estate investing arm MSREI, and The Scion Group have announced a joint venture to acquire student housing near the University of Mississippi for $262 million. The portfolio includes 600 apartments, townhomes, and cottages with over 2,000 beds within two miles of the campus.
Will Milam, Head of U.S. Investments at MSREI, stated: “We are pleased to acquire this high-quality portfolio of student housing communities at the University of Mississippi offering a variety of product types and price points.” He noted that strong enrollment at the university is expected to maintain the financial performance of these assets.
The acquisition began with College Town Oxford on the west side of campus and will continue with other properties in Oxford. TSB Capital Advisors assisted in arranging financing for this venture.
