Covington, KY – Bre Gaffney brings over ten years of federal financial management experience to her new role as Covington's Finance Director. Gaffney, with roles previously at the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the U.S. Department of Energy, intends to leverage her experience in managing complex budgets and overseeing strategic initiatives.
Covington's Mayor, Ron Washington, expressed confidence in Gaffney's capabilities: “Bre Gaffney brings a wealth of experience that will help protect and strengthen the City’s financial position. Her leadership promises to bring fresh ideas and innovation to our finance department, and I look forward to the positive impact she will undoubtedly make.”
Gaffney articulated her enthusiasm for joining the city: “Covington has a unique mix of history, creativity, and momentum, and I’m looking forward to helping support its growth by strengthening its financial operations.” She also highlighted her eagerness to work on ongoing projects such as the new City Hall and the revitalization of Covington’s Central Riverfront District.
In her past roles, Gaffney led a division responsible for appropriations and allocations, ensuring budget compliance with federal standards. Her efforts have been oriented toward enhancing budget transparency and trust among stakeholders.
Recently having moved to Cincinnati with her family, Gaffney shared, “We look forward to building a life in a community where our four-year-old son Dax can grow up feeling grounded, supported, and part of something special. We’re excited to be in this region and feel lucky to call it home.”
