AES Ohio has announced its continued partnership with the University of Dayton to supply renewable energy for the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball First Four events. This marks the fourth year that AES Ohio, a subsidiary of The AES Corporation, is involved in powering these games with sustainable energy sources.

The company will purchase renewable energy credits (RECs) to cover the increased energy demands at the University of Dayton Arena during pre-game events, practices, and First Four games. Renewable energy is derived from resources such as solar, wind, water, and geothermal heat, which are sustainable alternatives to fossil fuels.

Tom Raga, President of AES Ohio, stated: “The Dayton Region boasts America’s most devoted college basketball fans. AES Ohio is pleased to provide safe, reliable and environmentally friendly energy to power the First Four games.” He added that their collaboration with local organizers aims to ensure a welcoming experience for attendees.

AES Ohio has been delivering energy services for over a century and is investing in modernizing its grid infrastructure. This modernization includes upgrading transmission lines, substations, distribution systems, and integrating digital technologies like sensors and smart meters. These efforts aim to enhance grid efficiency and reliability while supporting economic growth.
