AES Ohio, a subsidiary of The AES Corporation, is urging its customers to prepare for the upcoming summer storm season. While summer offers opportunities for outdoor activities, it also brings unpredictable and severe weather conditions. Lightning can damage electrical equipment, while strong winds may break tree branches that fall onto power lines. Additionally, flash flooding poses risks of electrical hazards and service disruptions.

The Climate Prediction Center (CPC), part of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), forecasts a hot summer in 2025 with unusually high temperatures expected in June, July, and August. This increases the likelihood of intense storms and prolonged heat events.

AES Ohio conducts routine maintenance to enhance its power delivery system by inspecting poles and trimming trees near power lines. The company ensures its crews are well-prepared to address any storm-related damages through regular planning sessions and drills aimed at efficient storm response.

During severe weather forecasts, AES Ohio remains fully staffed to respond promptly if outages occur. In case of power interruptions, teams work continuously to restore electricity safely and swiftly.

For additional safety tips during outages, customers can visit aes-ohio.com/outage-safety.

To help customers prepare for severe storms, AES Ohio recommends building an emergency kit with essential supplies such as non-perishable food items, water, flashlight batteries, a first aid kit, necessary medications, and a portable mobile charging device. Customers should also have a plan ready for extended power outages that includes contact lists for family and friends. Staying informed by opting into AES Ohio email notifications and checking local forecasts is advised. Bookmarking the AES Ohio outage page on mobile devices allows easy reporting of outages and access to restoration times when available. Social media pages will provide the latest information during multi-day restoration events at aes-ohio.com/storm-updates.
