AES Ohio, a subsidiary of The AES Corporation, announced that the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) has accepted the results from the wholesale auction held on April 29, 2025. This auction, together with the previous one conducted on October 15, 2024, determines the Price to Compare or AES Ohio Standard Service Offer (SSO).

Ohio residents have the option to select their energy supplier. The Energy Choice Ohio "Apples to Apples" website offers a platform for comparing different offers and provides guidance in choosing an energy supplier. The PUCO oversees this program to maintain a fair and competitive market.

The market-based auction is distinct from AES Ohio's investments and rates for transmission and distribution, which also require PUCO approval.

Starting this summer, AES Ohio will collaborate with local agencies at community events to assist customers with questions regarding energy and billing. The Price to Compare or AES Ohio SSO is set at $0.0945 per kWh and will be effective from June 1, 2025, for one year. Customers opting for AES Ohio’s SSO will be charged this rate without any additional mark-up based on the auctions.
