Kenton County Parks & Recreation will host a clean-up event at Doe Run Lake on Saturday, March 29, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. This initiative is part of the Ohio River Sweep, an effort to preserve nature in the area.
Volunteers are invited to bring their kayak or hiking shoes and enjoy the park while participating in conservation efforts. All necessary materials, such as garbage bags and gloves, will be provided. Schack's Yaks will be present for participants to try out their kayaks, which will be available later this year at Doe Run Lake.
Registration for the event is optional but can be completed online in advance at bit.ly/kcprcatalog. The event also offers an opportunity for those needing community service hours, as Kenton County Parks & Recreation is willing to sign any required paperwork.
Doe Run Lake is situated at 1501 Bullock Pen Road, Covington 41017. Volunteers should gather in the parking area near the boat launch. For more information about the event, interested individuals can call 859-525-PLAY (7529).
The "Maintain the Terrain" initiative is conducted in partnership with several organizations including Schack's Yaks, Sportsman’s Warehouse, Banklick Watershed Council, Ohio River Valley Water Sanitation Commission (ORSANCO), Foundation for Ohio River Education (FORE), and Kenton County Conservation District.
