The Hamilton County Board of Commissioners has announced the appointment of three local veterans to the Hamilton County Veterans Service Commission (VSC). This decision aligns with the Board's goal to enhance services for veterans in the area. The appointments were made following an increase in the VSC's budget, which has been doubled.
The Board recognizes the significant role that the VSC plays in supporting veterans and their families. To ensure continued service, they have increased funding to support its mission. The VSC provides a range of services such as emergency financial assistance, transportation, and guidance on VA claims and benefits, all aimed at improving veterans' quality of life. The budget for 2025 has been raised from $1.4 million in 2024 to $2.8 million this year. Additionally, it includes funds for the second annual Veterans Appreciation Day at Great American Ballpark.
Following state law, the Board expanded the VSC membership to bring more expertise and dedication to serving veterans. The new members are honorably discharged veterans residing in Hamilton County.
These appointments will last for five years, concluding on December 31, 2029. The resolution was adopted during a meeting held by the Board on January 9, 2025.
