The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) marked the 30th anniversary of its "In Concert Against Hate" event with appearances by notable figures such as Ben Stiller and Sia, alongside changemakers Damien Patton and Scooter Braun. The event took place at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC, on November 18.
According to the ADL, Braun received the ADL Spotlight Award for his role in bringing "The Nova Music Festival Exhibition: October 7th 06:29AM" to U.S. audiences. This exhibition highlights the resilience of survivors from the 2023 Hamas attack on the Nova Music Festival.
Braun is described on his website as the CEO of HYBE America and founder of SB Projects, a prominent media and entertainment company. He is also recognized for his philanthropic efforts, serving on various charity boards and supporting causes such as mental health, education, and anti-gun violence.
Patton, an entrepreneur and advocate who attended the event, was once involved with a white supremacist group during his teenage years. Now he advocates for anti-hate initiatives and promotes inclusion in technology. He has shared his journey away from radicalization in an op-ed for The Hill.
The ADL states that "In Concert Against Hate" began in 1995 to honor individuals who have bravely confronted hate and intolerance. The annual event combines music and storytelling to celebrate these heroes while supporting the ADL’s mission to combat antisemitism and promote justice.
Founded in 1913, the ADL's mission is "to stop the defamation of the Jewish people, and to secure justice and fair treatment to all." The organization works globally against antisemitism, extremism, and hate while advocating for justice and equality.
