Northern Kentucky University's women's volleyball team faced Purdue Fort Wayne in a challenging match on Saturday, seeking to recover from their previous night's defeat. The game concluded with the Norse narrowly losing in a five-set contest.
The final score stood at Northern Kentucky 2, Purdue Fort Wayne 3. The match took place at the Gates Sports Center in Fort Wayne, Indiana. This result leaves Northern Kentucky with a record of 9-13 overall and 5-6 in the Horizon League, while Purdue Fort Wayne improved to 14-10 overall and 7-4 in conference play.
Sydney Bray led the Norse with an impressive 18 kills, supported by Ivey Stocks and Joy Banks who also reached double digits in kills. Lucy Cluxton contributed significantly with 17 digs. Additionally, Torie Houston, Lainey Green, Joy Banks, and Allison Risley each recorded double-digit kills. Houston, Green, and Banks achieved double-doubles during the match.
The two teams alternated victories in the first four sets, each winning one set by a score of 25-20. After Purdue Fort Wayne claimed the third set, Northern Kentucky responded with a narrow win in the fourth set at 25-26. However, Purdue Fort Wayne secured victory by winning the decisive fifth set.
Looking ahead, Northern Kentucky will host Wright State on Tuesday before heading to Green Bay for two matches against the Phoenix.
