PHOENIX — A phone poll taken earlier this month by ABC15 Arizona TV affiliate and OH Predictive Insights is showing Republican candidates with significant leads in three key state races.
The poll, taken from a likely 2018 general election voter sample of 600, looked at Arizona's secretary of state, treasurer, attorney general, superintendent of public instruction and corporate commission races.
According to OH Predictive Insights, polling results include Steve Gaynor at 50 percent in the secretary of state race, with his Democratic opponent Katie Hobbs at 36 percent.
Arizona State Sen. Kimberly Yee holds a lead over her Democratic opponent Mark Manoil with results showing her at 48 precent to Manoil's 33 percent.
In the Arizona Attorney General race, the polls show incumbent Attorney General Mark Brnovich at 54 precent with Democrat January Contreras at 32 percent.
Out of the poll's four state races, the superintendent of public instruction was the closest, with Republican Frank Riggs showing a very small lead, at 44 percent, to his Democratic opponent Kathy Hoffman's 39 percent.
OH Predictive Insights chief pollster and managing partner Mike Noble says the biggest takeaway from the poll is that Republican candidates' futures are closely tied to Trump's approval rating, which is 48 percent in the state of Arizona, and the coming together of the Republican Party.
"We are starting to see increases among the GOP statewide, due to the Republican base finally consolidating, which we haven't seen all year," Noble said.
Over half of the poll's participants were women with the largest age group 65 and older, according to OH Predictive Insights.
