Leading Edge Academy Gilbert will begin its upcoming school year under new leadership as it recently named Heidi Simms as its new principal.
Simms will fill the post that was left vacant when Dr. Gerald Slemmer retired after 40 years as an educator and administrator.
Simms previously served in principal posts for Noah Webster Schools in Scottsdale, in the Clinton Community School District in Wisconsin, and at EAGLE College Prep in Phoenix. She also served as an elementary school teacher in Arizona and Illinois.
She is a graduate of Arizona State University, where she earned her bachelor of arts in education. She earned a master's of teaching and leadership degree from St. Xavier University in Chicago and holds a master's of administration and supervision from the University of Phoenix.
