In response to an amended Presidential public assistance declaration, the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) has announced the availability of low-interest federal disaster loans for private nonprofit organizations in Texas counties, including Kerr County. These areas have been affected by severe storms, straight-line winds, and flooding since July 2.
The SBA's low-interest disaster loans are now available in Kerr County and several additional Texas counties:
- Amendment 1 (Issued July 10, 2025): Kendall, Kimble, Menard, and San Saba
- Amendment 2 (Issued July 13, 2025): Burnet, Llano, Mason, McCulloch, and Tom Green
- Amendment 3 (Issued July 16, 2025): Coke, Concho, and Williamson
Applicants may qualify for a loan amount increase of up to 20% of their physical damage for mitigation purposes as verified by the SBA. Eligible improvements could include insulating pipes and walls or installing storm windows to prevent future damage.
“One distinct advantage of SBA’s disaster loan program is the opportunity to fund upgrades reducing the risk of future storm damage,” said Chris Stallings, associate administrator of the Office of Disaster Recovery and Resilience at the SBA. “I encourage businesses and homeowners to work with contractors and mitigation professionals to improve their storm readiness while taking advantage of SBA’s mitigation loans.”
Loans can be up to $2 million with interest rates as low as 3.625% for private nonprofit organizations with terms extending up to 30 years. Interest does not accrue until one year after the first loan disbursement.
Applications can be submitted online at sba.gov/disaster or through SBA's Customer Service Center at (800) 659-2955 or via email at disastercustomerservice@sba.gov. Telecommunications relay services are available by dialing 7-1-1.
The deadline for applications related to physical property damage is September 4, 2025. For economic injury applications, the deadline is April 6, 2026.
