Covington, Kentucky has appointed Dan Wohler as its new Communications Manager. Wohler's interest in storytelling and news began in his childhood outside Boston, Massachusetts, where his parents emphasized the value of staying informed through reliable sources.
Reflecting on his upbringing, Wohler stated, "Thinking back to when I was a kid – seeing how my parents were captivated by the evening news – being informed was really important growing up in our household." He expressed a desire to be part of the news industry and to represent those without a voice.
Wohler holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English/Communications from the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts. His professional background includes roles as a news producer at CNY Central in Syracuse, New York, and WCPO-TV in Cincinnati, Ohio. Most recently, he served as Communications Administrator for Middletown City School District.
In his new role, Wohler is eager to promote Covington's developments and keep its residents well-informed. "I’m excited about the trajectory of the city – I think it’s only ‘up,’" said Wohler. He mentioned projects like the new City Hall and Covington Central Riverfront neighborhood development as highlights.
Wohler finds Covington's unique character appealing. He noted that "if Cincinnati is Manhattan, then Covington is Brooklyn," describing each street as a mix of local businesses with rich history.
Outside work, Wohler enjoys cooking and exploring local dining options with his fiancée Shelby. The couple has embraced the Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky region as their home along with their pet dog Kitty.
"While I’m not from here, we’ve really adopted this place as our home," Wohler remarked. He emphasized the importance of community involvement for quality of life and aims to foster that sense through his communications work.
