Amazon announced on its website that it has upskilled more than 700,000 employees globally through prepaid education and training programs.
According to its website, Amazon's Career Choice program, launched in 2012, is a global initiative aimed at providing employees with opportunities to develop new skills for career advancement. The program offers prepaid tuition for courses in high-demand fields, including IT, healthcare, and transportation. As of 2025, Career Choice is available in 14 countries, reflecting Amazon's commitment to workforce development.
Since its inception, the Career Choice program has seen participation from over 250,000 employees, with 100,000 joining in 2024 alone. The program covers up to 100% of tuition fees, eliminating the previous 5% employee contribution requirement. This expansion aims to reduce financial barriers and support employees in pursuing higher education and skill development.
Amazon has introduced new robotics and engineering apprenticeship programs in the U.S., such as the Mechatronics and Robotics Apprenticeship. Participants in these programs receive a nearly 23% wage increase after completing classroom instruction and an additional 26% increase after on-the-job training. On average, graduates earn up to $21,500 more annually compared to typical entry-level fulfillment center roles.
