Gas prices are on the rise as the summer driving season approaches. The national average for a gallon of regular gasoline has increased by 4 cents from last week. This change is attributed to rising crude oil prices and increased demand. Although gas prices typically start climbing earlier in the spring, lower crude oil prices earlier this year delayed this trend. Currently, drivers are paying about 40 cents less than they did at the same time last year. This reduction in cost comes as a relief to the estimated 39.4 million Americans planning road trips over Memorial Day weekend.
Meanwhile, the national average per kilowatt hour of electricity at public EV charging stations remained stable over the past week at 36 cents.
