As part of the fiscal year 2025 budget reconciliation proposal, the House Energy & Commerce Committee has introduced a provision to enhance U.S. competitiveness in artificial intelligence innovation. The proposal includes a moratorium on the enforcement of state and local regulations, which is intended to promote the deployment of AI technologies and ensure continued growth in this sector.

The Computer & Communications Industry Association (CCIA), which has supported competitive regulations for the U.S. tech industry for over 50 years, expressed its approval of this development.

Matt Schruers, President and CEO of CCIA, stated: “CCIA is encouraged by the proposed moratorium on inconsistent AI regulatory processes. A consistent approach to AI regulation will ensure U.S. developers remain competitive in the global marketplace.”
