The Computer & Communications Industry Association (CCIA) has expressed concerns about the Nevada Youth Online Safety Act, known as SB 63. This bill proposes the collection of sensitive data, including biometrics, to verify user age. The CCIA supports policies that protect online users while maintaining individual freedoms and Constitutional rights.

Aodhan Downey, State Policy Manager for CCIA, commented on the matter: "Federal courts have consistently struck down similar laws requiring age verification and parental consent, finding they violate the First Amendment. Legislators should work with businesses to continue their ongoing private efforts to implement mechanisms such as daily time limits or child-safe searching so that parents can have control over their own child’s social media use."

The association emphasizes collaboration between legislators and businesses to enhance existing efforts in safeguarding children online without infringing on rights.
