Today, Threads announced a series of updates aimed at enhancing the user experience on its desktop platform. The company is transitioning from Threads.net to Threads.com and making it easier for users to share perspectives and participate in their favorite communities.
New features include the ability for users to see custom feeds in a single column view, similar to the mobile app. Liked and saved posts can now be accessed through the main menu, allowing users to easily revisit significant conversations. Additionally, a new column icon lets users customize their display more efficiently, and posts can now be copied as images rather than screenshots for easier sharing on platforms like Instagram.
A notable innovation currently being tested allows users to upload lists of people they follow on other apps to Threads, starting with X. This feature is designed to facilitate quicker connections with users across different platforms and help creators expand their audience.
Threads originally launched its web version in August 2023, with initial functionalities including posting and feed interactions. By May 2024, the platform introduced a multi-column layout, offering display customization options that have been expanded upon with today's updates.
The feedback from the Threads community has driven these improvements, highlighting the significance of the desktop version in supporting the activities of its growing creator community. Further updates to the Threads web experience are anticipated in the future.
