Meta is expanding the availability of its AI technology integrated with Ray-Ban Meta glasses to several European countries. People in Germany, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, and Finland will now be able to interact with Meta AI using voice commands for general inquiries. This includes a live translation feature that supports seamless conversations across English, French, Italian, and Spanish.
The new update also promises a feature enabling users to inquire about things they are looking at, set to roll out in the supported EU countries starting next week.
Previously, Meta AI began its rollout on Ray-Ban Meta glasses on November 18, 2024, in France, Italy, Ireland, and Spain. During this phase, the AI was only available in English, French, Italian, and Spanish. A feature allowing users to get answers about what they see is restricted to the US, Canada, and Australia for now.
"Since we launched in September 2023, we have been diligently working to ensure that Ray-Ban Meta glasses comply with Europe’s complex regulatory system. We are excited to begin bringing Meta AI and its innovative features to parts of the EU and look forward to expanding to more European countries soon."
The integration provides users with a hands-free experience, allowing them to ask and receive real-time information or inspiration on various topics. "For example, you can ask, 'Hey Meta, what’s the best patisserie in Paris?' or 'What are some good gift ideas for my kids aged 6 and 8?' and receive an answer instantly."
Meta plans to continue enhancing Meta AI capabilities and expand its availability to more European regions. "We’re looking to bring these features to more countries in the future. Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to enhance the capabilities of Meta AI and bring cutting-edge technology to our European users."
