Meta is set to expand its board of directors with the addition of Patrick Collison and Dina Powell McCormick, effective April 15. This development was announced by the company on April 11.
Mark Zuckerberg, the founder and CEO of Meta, expressed his optimism regarding the new appointments. “Patrick and Dina bring a lot of experience supporting businesses and entrepreneurs to our board. Patrick is deeply committed to expanding economic opportunity, and Dina has a long career advocating for economic development and supporting entrepreneurs. Their perspective will be extremely valuable to businesses that rely on our services to grow.”
Patrick Collison, who co-founded Stripe, a financial services technology company, with his brother John Collison in 2010, commented on his new role: “Between WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook, Meta is one of the internet’s most important platforms for businesses. I look forward to helping them navigate the abundant opportunities of the coming years.”
Dina Powell McCormick brings extensive experience from her time in finance and government roles to her new position. She remarked, “I’m excited to bring my experience in finance, government and economic development to support the people and entrepreneurs who use Meta’s services.”
McCormick currently serves as Vice Chair, President, and Head of Global Client Services at BDT & MSD Partners. Her career spans more than 25 years and includes senior roles at Goldman Sachs, where she was a partner and served on the management committee, among other roles. Additionally, she has served as Deputy National Security Advisor to President Donald J. Trump and in various capacities under President George W. Bush.
The existing board members at Meta include Mark Zuckerberg; Peggy Alford, former Executive Vice President at PayPal Holdings, Inc.; Marc L. Andreessen of Andreessen Horowitz; John Arnold of Arnold Ventures; John Elkann of Exor N.V.; Drew Houston of Dropbox, Inc.; Nancy Killefer formerly of McKinsey & Company; Robert M. Kimmitt of WilmerHale LLP; Charlie Songhurst, a technology investor; Hock E. Tan of Broadcom Inc.; Tracey T. Travis of The Estée Lauder Companies, Inc.; Dana White of the Ultimate Fighting Championship; and Tony Xu of DoorDash, Inc. Collison and McCormick formally join this lineup from April 15.
