Morgan Stanley announced a new wave of financial support for its Alliance for Children’s Mental Health, amounting to $15 million in multi-year grants. This financial backing is part of the company’s $50 million initiative aimed at improving youth mental health resources. Since its inception in 2020, the Alliance has touched the lives of over 52 million children, caregivers, and educators across the globe.
Ted Pick, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Morgan Stanley and Chair of the Alliance's Advisory Board, expressed the firm’s commitment: “Morgan Stanley is proud of the Alliance’s work to address the mental wellbeing of young people as part of our longstanding commitment to children’s health. Together with our members, the Alliance has supported the mental health needs of millions of children, and we look forward to having continued impact in the years to come.”
The latest grants will support several prominent members of the Alliance. Among them, the Child Mind Institute will expand its training programs for educators and school-based clinicians in the U.S., while Columbia University Department of Psychiatry plans to investigate smartphone-based interventions to enhance care for adolescents with depression in New York City.
The Jed Foundation (JED) intends to widen its support systems for mental health across U.S. school districts, and the Steve Fund will focus on providing resources for U.S. college students. In London, Place2Be will work on delivering mental health services and pioneering new support strategies for young people. Mind HK will enhance public education on mental health and deliver youth training in Hong Kong.
The Alliance’s initiative includes the American Academy of Pediatrics and Sesame Workshop, both of which joined the program last year to further develop early childhood care and pediatric workforce training.
Since 2021, the Innovation Awards have enabled nonprofits to scale effective mental health solutions throughout the United States. Initiated in 2024, the Leadership Learning Series aims to support nascent organizations in expanding their programming impact.
Joan Steinberg, President of the Morgan Stanley Foundation and CEO of the Alliance Advisory Board, emphasized the Alliance’s ongoing mission: “The Alliance has made much-needed strides to foster awareness, collaboration and innovation to ensure that children have the mental health support they need to grow and thrive. Our work is far from over as there remains an urgent need for greater attention and funding for children’s mental health.”
