On March 25, 2025, the Center for Democracy & Technology (CDT) joined over 100 organizations in a collaborative effort to present a five-point plan aimed at advancing the implementation of the WSIS +20 review process. This review marks the two-decade milestone of the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS), focusing on global governance of digital technologies and their impact on human rights.

The letter containing the plan outlines five essential recommendations to ensure the WSIS +20 review effectively incorporates diverse stakeholder perspectives. The recommendations are: 1) publish a clear and inclusive timeline, 2) ensure transparency and accountability, 3) facilitate inclusive and meaningful stakeholder consultations, 4) broaden and diversify participation, and 5) maximize inclusive participation in final negotiations. These measures are intended to ensure the WSIS +20 review process successfully integrates viewpoints from stakeholders worldwide who access information online and use digital technologies, while also safeguarding human rights in the digital era.

Readers are encouraged to read the full letter for a detailed understanding.
