Meta has announced the expansion of its AI assistant to Europe, after navigating regulatory challenges. The AI technology, which launched in the US in 2023, will soon be available in six European languages. Meta plans to offer this service for free through popular messaging apps like Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Messenger.
The company highlights the value of having a reliable assistant that enhances social experiences and unlocks new possibilities. Users can access Meta AI by looking for a blue circle icon within these apps. "We’re already seeing people around the world interacting with Meta AI through direct-message functions," says Meta.
Meta AI will also be available in group chats on WhatsApp initially, with plans to expand to Messenger and Instagram Direct Messaging. Users can engage with the assistant by typing "@MetaAI" followed by their query or prompt.
The AI aims to simplify content discovery and provide relevant information without needing multiple tabs. Users can generate results across various content types by asking specific questions or prompts.
Looking forward, Meta aims to make its AI products more widely available globally, continuing to add new intelligent functions and creative features. "We’re excited to see how Meta AI will shape the future of social experiences in Europe," states Meta.
