Amazon has announced that Amazon Web Services (AWS) is committing up to $100 million in cloud credits over the next five years to support qualifying educational organizations worldwide. This investment aims to help underserved students gain skills in artificial intelligence (AI), cloud computing, and literacy.

According to a news release by Amazon, as part of the AWS Education Equity Initiative, AWS is providing cloud credits to organizations to offset the costs of using its services. This includes developing AI assistants, coding curriculums, and learning platforms, with technical support from AWS Solution Architects for responsible AI implementation and optimization.

The company is collaborating with over 50 organizations in 10 countries to bring digital learning solutions to underserved communities. For instance, Code.org is scaling its AI Teaching Assistant, saving teachers time on grading. Meanwhile, Rocket Learning in India uses AWS to optimize educational content. Tangible Africa is expanding its coding curriculum across multiple African countries with AWS support.

This initiative builds on Amazon’s ongoing commitment to unlock education and career opportunities. Programs like Amazon Future Engineer have provided millions of hours of STEM education. Additionally, the AWS AI and Machine Learning (ML) Scholarship Program has awarded $28 million to support students entering AI careers.

Amazon Web Services (AWS) offers a comprehensive cloud platform with over 200 services, including infrastructure technologies and emerging solutions such as AI and machine learning. It serves a wide range of customers, including startups, enterprises, and government agencies, with a broad partner network focused on providing cost-effective, scalable tools across various industries.

Amazon provides a range of services beyond cloud computing. These include online and in-person shopping, delivery of fresh produce, media distribution through devices like Alexa and Fire TV, logistics operations, customer service initiatives, and entertainment offerings through platforms such as Amazon Originals, Prime Video, and Audible.
