Amazon has announced the opening of its new 125,000 square-foot delivery station in Boone County, Florence. The facility will employ over 150 full-time associates who will handle sorting, picking, and loading for last-mile deliveries.

According to Amazon, the company has increased its footprint in Boone County by opening its first ‘last-mile’ delivery station in Northern Kentucky, located at 7435 Industrial Road in Florence. This facility is five miles from the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport and serves as a transportation hub where packages are processed and dispatched to local customers. The facility features a coordinated dispatch sequence, with up to 50 Amazon delivery trucks departing every 25 minutes, and over 300 electric vehicle charging stations.

"Amazon’s presence in the region underscores the importance of Florence as a strategic appointment hub in the heart of Northern Kentucky," Florence City Manager Josh Hunt said during the ceremony, according to Link NKY News. "It highlights our commitment to fostering an environment that attracts world-class businesses and urges economic development."

Amazon Site Lead Bryan Dzialo conducted a tour for community members during the grand opening. The tour highlighted how Florence employees contribute to improving efficiency and safety while expediting deliveries in Northern Kentucky. Attendees also viewed Amazon’s Rivian electric delivery vehicles, part of the 15,000-vehicle fleet already deployed in the U.S. Since July, these vehicles have delivered over 800 million packages. Amazon plans to deploy 100,000 electric vehicles by 2030, aiming to reduce carbon emissions significantly.

Hunt told the Northern Kentucky Tribune: "Amazon has been a beacon of opportunity and growth as well as learning for our region. It’s been quite the transformation."
