Global investment firm Carlyle (NASDAQ: CG) has announced changes in its leadership within Americas Corporate Private Equity, effective immediately.

Sandra Horbach, who has been with Carlyle for nearly two decades, will now serve as Chair of Americas Corporate Private Equity. In her new role, Horbach will continue to be part of the investment committees for US Corporate Private Equity funds and support the management of both new and existing investments. She will also contribute to strategic growth initiatives such as expanding Carlyle’s private equity products in the Wealth channel and integrating artificial intelligence and data analytics into investment strategies.

Steve Wise, currently Global Head of Healthcare, will join Brian Bernasek as Co-Head of Americas Corporate Private Equity. They will oversee Carlyle’s private equity business across the Americas region and report to Chief Executive Officer Harvey Schwartz. Wise has a strong track record at Carlyle, having led significant transactions including the investment in Medline Industries, Inc., Pharmaceutical Product Development (PPD), and Sedgwick.

Joe Bress and Robert Schmidt, senior partners from Carlyle’s Healthcare team, will succeed Wise as Global Co-Heads of Healthcare. With 30 years of combined experience on the team, they aim to enhance value across Carlyle’s healthcare practice.

Leadership continues across other sectors within Americas Corporate Private Equity:

- Jim Burr and William McMullan remain Global Co-Heads of Financial Services.

- Ian Fujiyama is Global Head of Aerospace and Government Services.

- Patrick McCarter and Anna Tye are Global Co-Heads of Technology.

- Martin Sumner remains Global Head of Industrials.

Harvey Schwartz commented on the changes: “Carlyle’s greatest asset is its deep bench of talent. Over her career, Sandra’s influence in private equity has been groundbreaking. We congratulate her on this new role.” He added that Steve Wise is “a world-class investor with an impressive track record.”

Sandra Horbach expressed pride in past achievements at Carlyle's Americas Private Equity platform: “I’m excited to assume these expanded responsibilities,” she said. Brian Bernasek praised Horbach's leadership and welcomed Wise as his co-head: "I am delighted to welcome Steve," he said. Steve Wise stated his enthusiasm for his new role alongside Bernasek: "I look forward to continuing to strengthen our platform."
