Arizona Department of Transportation issued the following announcement on Nov. 27.

Sections of Loop 303 near Happy Valley Parkway in the northwest Valley are scheduled to be closed on Monday and Tuesday nights (Nov. 30-Dec. 1) to allow crews to set temporary barrier walls ahead of an upcoming widening project.

The Arizona Department of Transportation will be widening a stretch of Loop 303 north of Happy Valley Parkway starting in December. The following overnight closures are scheduled for pre-construction work:

  • Northbound Loop 303 closed between Happy Valley and Lone Mountain parkways from 10 p.m. Monday to 5 a.m. Tuesday (Dec. 1). DETOUR: Traffic can exit northbound Loop 303 to eastbound Happy Valley Parkway and use northbound Lake Pleasant Parkway to reach Loop 303.
  • Southbound Loop 303 closed between Lone Mountain and Happy Valley parkways from 10 p.m. Tuesday to 5 a.m. Wednesday (Dec. 2). DETOUR: Traffic can exit southbound Loop 303 to southbound Lake Pleasant Parkway and use westbound Happy Valley Parkway to reach Loop 303.
The upcoming project will add a third lane in both directions along Loop 303 between Happy Valley and Lake Pleasant parkways and crews also will construct a new Loop 303 traffic interchange for the future Jomax Parkway in Peoria. Construction will take approximately one year to complete.

The Loop 303 improvement project is funded in part by Proposition 400, a regional sales tax approved by Maricopa County voters in 2004.
