Goodyear City Council member Laura Kaino was sworn in to her position this month, replacing Joanne Osborne, who will be running for elected office at the state level.
Kaino, who has civic experience gained through volunteer work on various city committees, expressed enthusiasm about her new role.
“I am excited about the direction that Goodyear has been going, and working with a diverse and cohesive Council who is committed to doing the best for the city,” Kaino said.
Her expertise, gleaned from participation on the Arts & Culture Commission, Water Conservation Committee, and Faith & Community Roundtable, rendered her highly recommended by the city’s mayor.
“Laura has invested a great deal of time with the city of Goodyear,” Mayor Georgia Lord said. “Her experience and knowledge has prepared her for the position on Council and I expect the transition to be seamless.”
An alumna of Grand Canyon University, Kaino is a human resources professional with specific background in government work. She has served both as an HR generalist and as a manager, specializing in conflict resolution, consensus-building and facilitation in groups.
Additionally, Kaino has participated in the Class 24 of Leadership West since August 2017.
