A recent state audit that included a facility spot check has resulted in the Cochise County Jail receiving a perfect rating for its health care services.
The annual audit, which is designed to examine the policies, procedures, routine and emergency needs, is conducted by medical staff from other jails and is reported to the Arizona Department of Health Services.
“This is a great reflection on our staff,” Cochise County Health and Social Services Director Carrie Langley said in a statement. “They are the ones working here on a daily basis and ensuring all requirements are being met.”
According to the county, the annual audit also includes an examination of inmate records, intake screenings, suicide risk screenings and chronic care as well as other areas.
Cochise County Sheriff Mark Dannels said the health staff is vital to his team running the jail effectively.
“The recent successful medical audit is directly related to the awesome and dedicated medical staff who work within our jail facilities,” Dannels said in a statement. “I am so proud to have these professionals as part of our team as they strive to keep our inmates healthy and our facilities safe for all."
