Five Cochise County employers have been awarded the Healthy Arizona Worksite Award in recognition for making their worksites a healthy and safe place.

This year, Chiricahua Community Health Centers, Inc. was given the Platinum Award, while both Benson Hospital and Cochise County received the Gold Award. Southeastern Arizona Behavioral Health Sciences (SEABHS) and Wellness Connections both received the Silver Award.

The award is presented in collaboration with the Arizona Department of Health and various local health authorities including Cochise Health and Social Services.

The “Healthy Arizona Worksite Award” is given to local businesses and organizations throughout Arizona that make health and overall well-being of employees and their families a top priority. In addition, the program aims to provide local businesses with accessible resources and information in supporting initiatives intended to give importance to the employees' health, as well as the safety in worksites and the entire community.

“With 65 percent of the U.S. adult population heading to work every week, workplaces are effective settings in which to help address individual and community health, Cochise Health & Social Services health policy manager Daniella Reidmiller said. "If workers and their families improve their wellbeing, healthcare spending could potentially be lowered.”
