The installation of sidewalks and a new driveway on the west side of Arizona Avenue is finished and crews are now transitioning to the east side of the four-lane roadway south of downtown.
After working for 16 weeks on the first phase of the project -- including new landscape plans, broader sidewalks, added streetlights and new traffic signal near Fairview Street -- the second phase is about to start. Removal of old asphalt, streetlights, and landscapes is in progress to ensure a smooth transition of labor from the west to east.
Construction will take place while leaving two lanes accessible. Making sure that traffic is well-maintained, a center turn lane is available and no street parking is allowed.
The $6.4 million project cost is expected to be completed in October.
