Receiving exemplary ratings from its residents for its local economy, Scottsdale has received the 2017 Voice of The People Award.
The city was recently recognized for its high ratings among communities that participated in the National Citizen Survey. In the poll, 85 percent of Scottsdale citizens rated the city’s overall economic health at excellent or good, which is above national benchmarks.
“Scottsdale’s business environment continues to amaze me – it’s a cornerstone of our success,” Scottsdale Mayor W.J. “Jim” Lane said in a press release. “If you are looking for a place that supports and encourages business of all types and sizes because of the positive impact they have on an entire community, I don’t believe there’s a better place than Scottsdale.”
The National Citizen Survey measures resident’s opinion and satisfaction with local government and services using a scientific, representative sample approach, according to the city. The survey results are then used for budgeting, measuring performance and for program planning.
The Scottsdale City Council has adopted a comprehensive economic development strategy as part of its six priorities. As part of the strategy, the Scottsdale Economic Development Department continues to carry out initiatives to help strengthen the city’s business environment such as hosting programs, and providing resources for small businesses and entrepreneurs.
