Tucson Federal Credit Union (TFCU) recently presented its seventh annual Community Partnership Awards to honor entities that transform people’s lives through benevolent means.

TFCU — itself celebrating its 80th anniversary with a pledge to perform “80 Acts of Kindness” — selected the Erik Hite Foundation to receive a donation of $25,000 and allotted $10,000 each to Youth On Their Own and Our Family Services.

“Our goal represents 80 years of service to the community that makes us successful,” TFCU President and CEO Susan Stansberry said in a press release. “We give back because we are grateful.”

The Erik Hite Foundation (EHF) founded a child development center in 2011 with extended hours for parents with non-traditional work schedules, particularly members of first responder and military families. According to the Tucson Metro Chamber of Commerce, the concept was first of its kind nationwide.

TFCU acknowledged Youth On Their Own (YOTO) for its work in dropout prevention in homeless populations. In 2016, YOTO saw a 124 percent increase in the number of students served compared to five years ago. TFCU’s donation will help ensure financial support for 72 homeless individuals.

Our Family Services also provides services for the homeless. Its $10,000 award will support its Reunion House, which provides counseling and case management to heal family relationships. The organization’s New Beginnings program serves over 700 homeless children and families annually as well as single mothers and families transitioning to financial independence.
