U.S. Rep. Trent Franks (R-AZ) was honored last week at the 2016 Arizona Utility Partners (AZUP) Summit in Scottsdale, where AZUP members —  Arizona Public Service, Electrical District No. 3, Global Water Resources Inc., Salt River Project, Southwest Gas Corporation, Tucson Electric Power and UniSource Energy Services met with tribal, state and community leaders to discuss some of the state's biggest issues.

Securing Arizona’s fair share of U.S. Low Income Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) funds was among the issues discussed. For more than 10 years, Arizona and other states have been shortchanged by budget riders embedded in legislation covering government programs. Because of this, Arizona loses out on $12 million in LIHEAP funds, which help eligible Arizona households heat and cool their homes.

Franks addressed the 2016 Arizona Utility Partners Summit and was honored for his ongoing work to secure Arizona’s full share of LIHEAP funds.

Franks has signed a letter supporting AZUP’s efforts along with Arizona’s eight other House members: Democrats Ruben Gallego, Raul Grijalva, Ann Kirkpatrick and Kyrsten Sinema and Republicans Paul Gosar, Martha McSally, Matt Salmon and David Schweikert.
