Three Tucson Bookmans locations are accepting new or gently used books for children in kindergarten through fifth grade through Aug. 31, with a special celebration on Aug. 26.

Tucson-based nonprofit Literacy Connects will present a double performance of tales written by children from Southern Arizona at the Berger Performing Arts Center on May 21.

Betty Stauffer, executive director of Literacy Connects, recently wrote a blog post announcing the nonviolence coalition We Stand Together Network will hold a nonviolence and activism training session at 9 a.m. Jan.14 at the YWCA at, 525 N. Bonita Ave. in Tucson. 

Tucson-based nonprofit Literacy Connects said its recent Get Connected event at the Tucson Convention Center ballroom drew more than 650 attendees and raised more than $132,000 for its programming.
