Tucson-based nonprofit Literacy Connects will present a double performance of tales written by children from Southern Arizona at the Berger Performing Arts Center on May 21.

"Stories that Soar!" encourages children to express themselves through writing and creativity. One child’s idea for a character named Chicken Nugget to meet Captain Banana will come to fruition on stage alongside other youthful concepts.

Two “completely different” shows will begin at 4 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. at the facility, 1200 W. Speedway Blvd. in Tucson. 

Next month’s presentation is based on work penned by students from 14 different schools, who wrote 13,821 original stories, according to Tucson Metro Chamber of Commerce.

“Best of Stories that Soar!” will be performed by professional adult actors at this family-friendly event as the final offering of Literacy Connects’ 2016-17 season. 

Between the two performances, all ticket holders will be able to enjoy a mid-show celebration.
