Walgreens has begun offering flu vaccines for individuals aged three and older at locations nationwide, ahead of the upcoming peak influenza season. Customers can receive their vaccination by walking into any Walgreens pharmacy or scheduling an appointment online at Walgreens.com/ScheduleVaccine, through the Walgreens app, or by calling 1-800-WALGREENS.
Starting August 1, myWalgreens members will receive a 20% discount on their next eligible in-store purchase after getting any vaccine. The offer is limited to three coupons per person during the promotion period and is not valid in Arkansas, New Jersey, or New York.
Community pharmacies have become a major source for flu vaccinations. In the 2024-2025 season, nearly 38 million doses were administered at community pharmacies—almost double the number given in doctors’ offices according to data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) (https://www.cdc.gov/fluvaxview/dashboard/adult-vaccinations-administered.html). Walgreens has invested in making its vaccination process simpler with streamlined programs, walk-in options, and family appointments.
“Las vacunas son la mejor manera de ayudar a prevenir y reducir la gravedad de virus potencialmente mortales como la influenza,” said Rick Gates, director de farmacia de Walgreens. “En Walgreens, estamos comprometidos a facilitar y hacer conveniente el recibir la protección que necesitan. Es importante que todos estén al día con sus vacunas recomendadas al entrar al otoño e invierno, cuando los virus como la influenza tienen mayor probabilidad de aumentar.”
Walgreens pharmacists are available to provide guidance about vaccines and support customers in making informed decisions for themselves and their families. Families can schedule multiple vaccinations during one visit for up to four people. Several vaccines can also be administered during a single appointment.
A new digital check-in feature allows customers to scan a QR code upon arrival at the pharmacy so they can continue shopping until it’s time for their appointment. Consent forms can be completed digitally before arriving.
The CDC reports that each year common respiratory viruses like influenza and pneumonia result in hundreds of thousands of hospitalizations and thousands of deaths in the U.S., with preliminary data showing that the 2024-2025 flu season was among the most severe since 2017-2018 (www.cdc.gov/fluview/surveillance/2025-week-17.html).
The CDC recommends annual flu vaccination for everyone six months of age or older by late October each year to ensure optimal protection throughout the season (https://www.cdc.gov/flu/hcp/acip/index.html).
