Dozens of people attended the Free Community Health Day at Richland Public Health, receiving mammograms and other health screenings. The event provided over 30 free or low-cost health services, including blood screens, HIV testing, Hepatitis C testing, blood pressure checks, and blood sugar testing. It was supported by OhioHealth, Richland Public Health, Cleveland Clinic, Nationwide Children’s Hospital, Avita Health System, and Third Street Family Health Services.
Richland Public Health Commissioner Julie Chaya reported that 39 mammograms were conducted during the day. OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital’s North Market Mobile Mammography Unit performed 20 mammograms while Cleveland Clinic completed 19. Dr. Chaya noted that nearly a dozen individuals underwent tests for HIV, Hepatitis C, or Syphilis. Additionally, 145 attendees received blood pressure checks or various lab tests and a dozen received vaccines. Medical professionals from Mansfield Hospital and OhioHealth Clinically Integrated Network also conducted 31 skin cancer screenings and registered several individuals for Cologuard kits to screen for colorectal cancer.
