The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) has reminded private nonprofit organizations in Wyoming of the approaching deadline to apply for federal disaster loans. These loans are intended to mitigate economic losses caused by wildfires that occurred from August 21-31, 2024. The application deadline is set for August 13, 2025.
This disaster declaration affects the counties of Campbell and Johnson in Wyoming. Under this declaration, the SBA’s Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) program is available to private nonprofits providing non-critical services of a governmental nature that suffered financial losses due to the disaster. Eligible organizations include food kitchens, homeless shelters, museums, libraries, community centers, schools, and colleges.
The EIDLs can be used for working capital needs arising from the disaster and are available even if there was no physical damage. These loans can cover fixed debts, payroll, accounts payable, and other bills unpaid because of the disaster.
“SBA loans help eligible private nonprofits cover both physical damage as well as economic injury after a disaster, which is crucial for their recovery,” said Chris Stallings, associate administrator of the Office of Disaster Recovery and Resilience at the SBA. “These loans not only help private nonprofits get back on their feet but help them rebuild.”
Loan amounts can reach up to $2 million with interest rates as low as 3.25% and terms extending up to 30 years. Interest does not accrue until 12 months after the first loan disbursement date. The SBA determines loan amounts and terms based on each applicant's financial condition.
The SBA urges applicants to submit their applications promptly since they will be processed in order of receipt. More information on applying online or obtaining additional assistance is available at sba.gov/disaster or through SBA’s Customer Service Center at (800) 659-2955.
Applications must be submitted by August 13.
