IBM has announced the launch of its new IBM Power11 servers, designed to enhance enterprise IT with improved performance and resilience. The servers are intended to meet the demands of modern enterprises transitioning into the AI era, offering seamless hybrid deployment both on-premises and in IBM Cloud.
The Power11 series aims to provide high availability, boasting 99.9999% uptime and zero planned downtime for system maintenance. It also features rapid ransomware threat detection capabilities through IBM Power Cyber Vault. "IBM Power11 changes the game for enterprise computing," said Tom McPherson, GM of Power Systems at IBM.
For the first time, the general availability of Power11 will include a range of server options alongside IBM Power Virtual Server in IBM Cloud. This virtual server is certified as a hyperscaler platform for RISE with SAP. Additionally, Power11 will support the upcoming IBM Spyre Accelerator, designed for AI-intensive workloads.
The new servers promise significant performance improvements over previous models, with up to 55% better core performance compared to earlier versions and increased capacity in entry and mid-range systems. "With just 20 minutes and the help of watsonx Code Assistant for i on Power, I was able to investigate a report...18 times faster," said Jasmine Kaczmarek from MR Williams.
Power11 also focuses on enhancing business processes through AI integration, offering built-in acceleration for inferencing and support for mission-critical AI workloads via the Spyre Accelerator. William Allarey from GuideWell highlighted the potential benefits: "With the new IBM Power11 automation capabilities...our team can focus on delivering benefits and services for better health."
Temenos' Chief Revenue Officer William Moroney expressed optimism about continued collaboration with IBM: "With the launch of Power11...we look forward to our continued partnership." The general availability date for IBM Power11 is set for July 25, 2025.
IBM continues its commitment to providing global hybrid cloud solutions backed by decades-long expertise in critical infrastructure areas such as financial services and healthcare.
